Accordingly, a magnificent sito of thirty-nine acres, two miles from the - Gisboruo Post Office,' was secured at a • cost of ,£6OOO, and plans were prepared for a building on the most modern lines, to contain one hundred and thirty beds, exclusive ot' the accommodation for. the staff, and an isolation ward with twelve beds. The accepted tender for this fine structure, which is now Hearing completion, was J245.8GG. The equipment will be in keeping with tho general character of the building, and it is expected that tho total cost of the institution will be in the neighbourhood of .-EGO,'OOO. Tho Hon. Captain Tucker, M.L.C., is the present clrairman of the Hospital Board, but tho new building was commenced undtr the ehairnmnship of Mr. Chas. Gray. Mr.'H. M. Porter is the secretary. On n recent "Hospital Saturday" a sum of 'JE22o,was collected, and as this carries ft' Government subsidy of 245. in the £. the institution benefited to the extent of .£lßl. • ■
