$ RACING CLUBS ABOUT GISBORNE. Lovers of liorso racing are well catered for in Poverty Bay. There are now no fewer than twelve racing days in the year, made up as follow:—Gisborno Park Racing Club, four days; Poverty Bay Turf Club, four days; Poverty Bay Trotting Club, one day; To ICaraka Racing Club, one day; Tolaga Bay Racing Club, ono day; Poverty Bay Hunt Club, ono day. Tho Gisboi-ne Park Racing Club is in a. very nourishing condition, and last year made a profit of over JiIGOO. Tho stakes for the two meetings of tho year aggregate J32770, tho big event for each meeting boiug worth .£2OO. At tho last meeting a total of .£23,000 was put through the totalisator for the two days. Sir James Carroll is tho prescient of tho club, and Mr. H. E. Dodd secretary. Tho Poverty Bay Turf Club is also in a sound financial condition, and tho stakes at tho two meetings of tho year aggrejato nearly .£3OOO. Tho-principal event is tlio Turanga .Stokes, of .£250. Mr. J. W. Nolan is the president of the club, and Mr. W. K. de Costa secretary,
