The Kowhai was resting on sand, the diver, had practically to burrow his way, under her, br.t ho managed to place a large pad over the gash, which,was about three feet long and.about half that width. Pumping was resumed at 3 p.m., when the tide was high, and was completed in half an hour, after which the Kowhai was towed to Port Chalmers and docked. An inquiry .into the mishap will be held by the Collector of Customs to : morrow afternoon.
