SENSATION IN MELBOURNE. By .Telerraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. March 14, 0.15 a.m.) Melbourne, March 13. A sensation has-been created in commercial circles by the disappearance of Mr. Charles Heath, a trusted officer of the Permewan, Wright Company. The disappearance was followed by the discovery of a shortage of between .£ISOO and i£2oofl in his accounts, allegedly tho result of an ingenious system of defrauding the Customs of duties for which the oompany is responsible, as the Customs agents, of a numbor of large importing firms. Heath, who handled these moneys, disappeared some weeks ago, since when an investigation has been proceeding. The. loss falls on the oompany.
