(By Telegraph.—Press Association,) Christchurch,vMarch 12. The damage caused by the outbreak of firo at Messrs. Booth, M'Donald, and Company's works last night was nothing like as serious as was at first thought. The actual destruction will not reach .£IOOO, and the insurances will amply cover that. There will bo some loss of time, but repairs are being effected vigorously, and it is hoped the works will be in full swing again within a week. Dunedin, March 12. A four-roomed house, owned by Mr. Henry Keenan and occupied by Mr. J. Smith, was destroyed by lire at Burnsido this afternoon. There was nobody in the house at tho time. The house, which was valued at J-'llOO, was insured for .£2OO in the Alliance, but the furniture was uninsured.
