CITIZENS' CARNIVAL.
4 ELECTRIC LIGHT SI'ORTS. One of the features , of the Citizens' Easter Carnival will be', the electric iiglit sports, wliich are being - arranged by tne Sports Committeo. 'inis novel display wilt cover tho two nights of the carnival at Newtown Park, ana will commence at 8 p.m. Tne lion, secretary, Jlr. G. S. Hill, lias u handy programme in circulation. Jb'or the lirst night eleven items are set down, including 22Dyds. (boys' race), 75yds. (dasli), 100 yds., B'Jtlyus., I.V miles (open), relay race lor teams of lour, ladies' costume' race. Kaees are also provided lor bandsmen and scouts. The principal attraction for Master Monday night will-be'a-modified Jiarullion road race of ten miles.
Entries ior most of the events close on Friday next with Messrs. Kitto and Suns, Manners Street, or li. 11. Scott and Co., Willis Street. The City Engineer is making speciai provisions for tnoroiighly lighting ihe Park, and the present lighting will be. greatly augmented. Jn place of giving separate shows ill aid <>l the carnival fluids, the whole of the moving picture proprietors are combining, anil are putting on a special show, which is to be held in the Town Mall on Wednesday, .March 26. No effort will lie spared to' make tho display one of the best that has yet been shown in the city. Each of the iirms are vicing with the other lo show the most attractive tiln-. (Jn Saturday afternoon next the combined aquatic carnival, as arranged by the Surf, Life Saving, and Swimming C.v.bs, will lake place at Lyall Bay. Special cars have been arranged, and given lino weather there should bo a largo concourse of people at the bay to witness a display the like of which has never before been se?n in the city. Arrangements are now being made by a special committee for a fancy dressdisplay for Easter Monday evening at Newtown Park, in connection with the carnival. A programme is now being arranged Covering original, comic, and spectacular coslumes, prizes for which will be on a liberal cash basis.
