ONION GROWERS' COMBINE.
' PROTECTING} THE PRODUCER. A meeting of onion growers was held at ■Marshland, Canterbury, last week to consider .the advisableness of organising l so as to enable the producer to obtain fair market value for- his onions. After a lengthy .discussion -it was. decided: "That an Onion-growers' Association be formed in Marshland, and .a,-representative be. appointed in' the interest of the association in other towiis of New ■ Zealand and Australia." ' 'The following committee was formed:— Messrs. J. FitzpatrickV C. Howard, ■' W. Curtis, J. Morris, and W. J. Walter. At a later meeting the committee/reported that a well-known' firm in Christchurch was prepared to do the business and to send onions to other centres, also to give 'weekly reports concerning their prices. It was'agreed lo approve' of tho committee's report. — —7+— .
