Mr. Newton King'e weekly report states:— For my Stratford sale, on Tuesday, there .was- a very good yarding, most.pens being filled. There was a good attendance, but generally bidding was quiet, and most lines were passed in, weaners, forward cows, and bulls being the exception, competition for the latter being very keen. Prices obtained ■ were:—Weaner Jersey heifers, £3: grades, £1 14s. (d. to £1 17a. 6d.; weaner steers, up to £1 15s. 6d.; mixed weaners, £1 lis.; 2C-month in-calf heifers, £3 15s. 6d.; good conditioned bulls, up to £9 2s. 6d.; 25year in-calf heifers, £4 10s. to £4 17e. 6d.; aged cows, £1 lis. 6d. to £2 Is.; store cows, £? 17«. to £3 12s. 6d.; forward and fat cows, £4 ss. to £5 12s, 6d.; 21-year Jersey steers, £3 15s. to £3 17s. 6d.; 3-year bullocks, £5 10s.; lambs, Bs. 6d.; f.m. ewes, 7s. 63.; ranis, from 1} to 2gns. On Wednesday, February 5, at Stony River Yards, thore was a fair entry, with a good attendance. Bidding, whilst not so brisk as at recent- sales, was very fair, practically everything being cleared as follows:—Jlolstein weaner heifers, £1 Bs. to £1 14s. 6d.: small and bad coloured, 15s. to £1 2^.; 18months empty heifers, £2 19s. to £3 Bs. 6d.; 20-montlis in-calf heifers. £3 15s. to £4; Holstein springing heifer, £7 2s. 6d.; bulls, up to £8 55.; store cows, £2 Bs. to £3 135.; forward cow.?, £4 ss. to £4 Bs. 6d.; fat cows, best. £6 18s. to £7 25.: others. £-5 ss. to £5 165.; s.f.-plough, £5; horse, cart, and harness, £16 55.; slip pigs, £7;. small woolly lambs, 'Bs;'.
