RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION.

Sir,—ln pew. of the present agitation for Bible in Schools, I should like to cnll attention to a ' suggestion made by the writer on education !in one, of the volumes of the Home University series. This writer proposes that a' certain hour every week be set apart for religious instruction. The children to be -assembled ■ in the respective churches of each denomination, there to be taught by accredited persons. Attendance to be compulsory, but with a conscience clause. If this could be adopted our present'system cf education need, not be interfered with and no one, not even Catholics, would have any ground of complaint. Moreover, the children would be much more likely to pay serious attention to instruction given in a church than when given as an ordinary school lesson. Hoping 6ome satisfactory solution of the difficulty may be arrived at,—l am, etc;, AN INTERESTED OBSERVER.
