—4 ' LOSS OF A FORTUNE OF £23,000. By Teloeraph—Press Association-Copyright London, March 9. In the case in which Arthur Newtooi, a-well-known solicitor, and Berkeley Bennett, an undischarged bankrupt, of Halflngon Street, are charged with defrauding Hans Thorsch of .£23,000, Thorsch gave evidence that he was induced to invest .£14,500 in Manchurian Concessions, Ltd. He has not received any return. Subsequently- Newton and others persuaded him to invest .£16,000 in alleged land and timber concessions in Canada. Newton's bail has been fixed at £10,000.
