/ ♦ — THE MINISTER. AND THE MAYOR. (By Telegraph—Pross Association.) Auckland, March 10. The Mayor of Auckland (Sir. Parr) made a further reply to-day to Mr. Fisher's statements regarding municipal control. "I observe," lie said in conclusion, "that iMr. Fisher is impressed with my suggestion that if the expert is to reign there is no neoessily for the Minister for Customs. He says ho has made a proposal to leave the decisions in connection with Customs matters to experts. Mr. Fisher is here quite logical, and dispiftys-admir-able unselfishness. Still, we should all bo sorry if Mr. Fisher's enthusiasm for expert management should lead him to of-, fcr himself as a sacrifice to reform. We do not want to seo the hon. gentleman oommit political harikari yet. The Minister says that while he was a member of the City Council some Wellington City Councillors used the council for all it was worth to ;jqnkc ;< good their claims at election time. "Taiii sorry to hear thiis." Certainly, strange things do happen in Wellington. Wellington people no ' doubt elocted these naughty councillors just as I hey elected Mr. Fisher to Parliament. Aucklanders have enjoyed Mr. Fisher's northern tour very much. He has certainly contributed greatly to the gaiety of the northern capital during the last, week. Wc hope he will come here.again soon."
