LIVE STOCK SALES.

Messrs. Dalgety aud Company, Limited, Palinerston North, held their weekly stock salo at Palmerston North, when there was a medium yarding of sheep and cattle offered to the usual attendance of buyers. The prices a-calisod were as follow:—Lambs, 7s. 7d.; e.m. ewes. 95.; two,'four, and .Oxtooth ewes, lis. lOd. to 135.; fat ewes, 125.; two-tooth wethers, lCs.; store cows, £1 Bs. to £2 10s.; weaner steers, -. 17s. A line of 32 fat and forward bullocks (at £8) were sold oja account of Hanson's Estate. Messrs. Dalsety and Co..' Ltd., Wellington, report as follows on their Upper llutt fate, held on Thursday:—We had a good entry of sheep and cattle. Bidding was not very fast at the start, but brightened up as the sale went on, and most of the lines changed hands. Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. report on their Martinborough stock sale, held yesterday, as follows:—An exceptionally heavy yarding of sheep was submitted, comprising several good lines of young ewes. The attendance was large, and competition on the whole satisfactory, although at times tile sale dragged somewhat. Mr. Willifl.it Martin's four and fiveyear ewe-/ were much admired—big ro.omy. big-framed ewes in good condition—7oo ov which made 12s. ICd. under the hammer. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:—At. Palmerston North on Thursday, we had a good entry of cattle. Mr. John M'Uougall offered a couple of pens of nice well-grown two-tooth ewes, which wero passed at auction, but {subsequently sold for delivery within a couple of wcelw at 16h. .Mr. A. ]). M'Leod sold 500 cull fcix-tooth ewes from nautotara at J2o. A -line of 520 black-face lambs in good condition made 9-5. lCd. Other prices were as follow:—Aged ewes, with failing mouths, 7s. 6d. to lCi-:.; others. 55.; dog's meat. 3s. 3d.; two-tooth ewes, 125., 145., and up to 16s. for exceptionally good lots; fat ewes. 13s. 6d. to 145.; small two and four-tooth ewes, in low condition, Bs. 9d.; small woolly lambs, in low condition, ss.

Mcvsrs. Junu's Macintosh and Co. report having hold their usual weekly sale in their Waipoua. (Masicrton) saleyards, when they ofVsred a-yarding well above advertised numbers, which they report met with very fair competition. They also report practically a total clearance, at the following prices:—Four and five-year-old ewes, 7s. 6d. to lis. 3d.; twMooth ewes, *to lZs. 3d.; b.t. lambs, 7s. 7d. to 7s. 9d.; shorn lambs. 7s. 7d. to 9s. 3d.; fat owe*, to 145.; four-tooth ewes, 14s. ICiL; storo cows, £3 l(te.: fat and forward cows, £4 155.; wcaners, 255. to 315.; horses sold at full rates. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, and Gorton and Son. Ltd., report as follows on Mr. Ernest Short's dispersal sale, held in the Fcilding saleyards on Tuesday, February 25. This sale must rank as one of the most successful clearing sales ever held in tho Dominion. The attendance was large, and represented buyers Irom all parts of the North Island, Nelson, and Marlborough districts. The quality of the stock yardod was freely acknowledged on all sides to be the very finest ever put before tho public in the Dominion; in fact, many who were in a position to judge considered that never before any part of the world has such a largo number of high-class sheep and cattle been sold off one farm, and Mr. Short was congratulated by everyone.
