» In view of the poll to be taken at Taity. and Wellington on ' Wednesday next oB tho River Board's proposal to raise a special loan of .£2OOO, to carry out pro*. tectivo works in the extended river district, tho following extract from the overseer's special report on the proposed work# will be of interest:— I strongly recommend tho board ',tof provide sufficient means t? carry out the works, as specified hereafter.
