PROPOSED CHRYSANTHEMUM SHQW. A meeting of ladies was held at Bishopscourt on Thursday afternoon to inaugurate an autumn show of chrysajitlwniums aud other flowers in aid of the'mainten-ance-fund of the Hndfleld, Hostel. This institution has now been iii existence-for nearly five years, anil supplies a real want' in connection with the university, being (besides a theological college) tho only residential hostel for men who are .studonts-of Victoria College. It is always full in term 'time; but the long summer, vacation, when most of the students are' away, means a serious loss, of income. Great' ''enthusiasm prevailed at the meeting. Their Excellencies the Governor aud the Countess of Liverpool have kindly promised their patronage. jVn Executive Committee was elected, consisting of the following ladies and gentlemen, including several of our most successful amateur gardeners:—Mrs. IJ. S. lladfiehl, Mrs. E. Hadfield, Mrs. 11. M, Gore, Mrs. Algar Williams, Mrs., S. Kirkcaldie, Mrs.' E. Anderson, Messrs. .T, B. Hareourt, C. W. Tringham. G. Remington, T. Hood. G. iTeffcry, anil the Rov. A. W.'H, Compioh. A second committee ■to arrange for the flower.stall, sweet stall, and refreshments was appointed as follows Lady Stout, Miss Coates, Miss Fartcourt, Mrs. A. 1). Willinms, Mrs. A. Martin, Miss G. M, Rose, Mrs. .F. M. B. Fisher, Mrs. Coleridge, and Mrs. W. B. Hudson. Both committees have power to add to their number. Tho show is to be- held in the Sydney SI rest Schoolroom on Wednesday, April 30, when the chrysanthemums are at their best. ..

The Executive Committee will moot shortly, and; the cataloftno, Rivinu particulars of entries, etc., will 1m widely circulated. Tt-is hoped that entries will be received from all parts of (lip Wellington dioebps for this doseh'ing object'.
