Auckland, March 7. , .Continued ill-health' \va9 the cause of lan attempt made,by an old 'Italian named Rosario, ociDitia, about G2 years of age, to take his own life. This morning about 5 o'clock a man informed a'constable that .'he had heard a repflrt of a revolver in the Reserve at tho junction, of Shortland and Princess Streets. ; Constable Manktelow and Constable Bates went up immediately to the reserve, and found Scibitia lying full length on one of the seats. Ho ,'was conscious, and when asked what had happened replied: "I liavo shot myself. Tho pistol is over there." At the same time he pointed to tho grass some 10 feet away, where the revolver was lying. The revolver had two live cartridges and one empty one in it. 'Scibitia was conveyed to tho hospital; where he lies in a precarious condition.
