BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.
MESSRS. BEAUCHAMP AND UPTON APPOINTED. Cabinet has reappointed Mr. Harold Beauchamp to a sent on the directorate of the Bank of New Zealand, and Ims appointed Mr. J. Hi Upton, of Auckland, in place of Mr, J. M. Johnston, of l'almerston North, whose term of office expires on March 31. Mr. Beauchamp lias been connected with the directorate of the hank for many years, and for some months past lias been acting-chairman, taking the of Mr. Martin Kennedy, who .16 now in England, lie is a member of . the firm o( Messrs. W. M. Bannatyiio and Company; and is a recognised authority on financial matters.
Mr. Upton, it is understood, has been appointed at the' request ■of the mercantile community of Auckland, as the representative of the northern end of the North Island. Mr. Upton, who is G8 years of age, is ft native of England, and since his connection with tile northern city has fillwj many important public offices— Mayor of Auckland, chairman of tlio Education Board, president of the Chamber of Commerce, trustee of the Auckland Savings Bank, president of the South British Insurance Company, and chairman of the Gas Company, besides being a ro. cognised authority on financial matters.
