MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
♦ ■ ' Miramar Borough Council met last evening. The following wero present iOouncillor Bell (Acting-Mayor), and Councillors Bowie, Grigg, Smith, Stone, and Telford. Mr. J. Brodie, writing in regard to subsidising the Ferry Company, desired to placo the following facts before the council : "In tho first place, 80 per cent, of the ratepayers and residents in tho borough are opposed to granting a subsidy; secondly, the present council will retire from office within two months; thirdly, tho council, in granting the proposed subsidy, are giving away or losing to the district at least -CGOO annually. In the face of theso facts, the action of the council appears reckless and quite indifferent to the borough's finances. The letter was received witlioift comment. ' Councillor Bell reported that he and Councillor Bowie had interviewed the Valuer-General, and had asked him for a revaluation of the borough. The ValuerGeneral, however, pointed ouf: that owing to a multitude of calls upon his time it was impossible for him to do so this year, but that he could definitely promise it for next year. St. Mary's Preparatory College wrote asking for the use of Seatoun Park on Easter Tuesday. The request was granted.
