N.Z. WOOL-BROKERS.
A STANDARD PACK ADOPTED. ■ Tho half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Wool-Brokers' Association was held at tho. Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Mr. A. E. Mabin, president,"occupied tho chair, and there were delegates present from all the selling centres in New Zealand. An official report of the meeting runs as under:—
Several.matters in connection with the improvement in selling methods were approved of, which . matters, affect brokers only, but a matter in connection with wool packs'is interesting to tho farming community, as well as to importers of packs. Complaint has been iiiado for soino years at the size of packs used by some fanners in tho Wellington Centre (principally Nelson and Feililing farmers). The packs are so large that they are difficiilt to handle, and stow very badly in the salerooms, throwing the tifcrs of wool out of alignment and infringing the regulations as' to size of passageway demanded by the wool-buyers. 11l order to induce iinportersxof wool packs to cease importing these packs, and farmers from issuing them, it was decided to charge,on extra one .shrilling .per bale store charges after the end of next season on all packs over J8 inches in size. This will mean that tho "three-quarter" I pfick will be ■accepted as the standard pack, and tho "full-sized" puck will, it is hoped, ceaso to exist.
