RUGBY CODE.

MENTION OF AMERICAN TOUR. ENGLAND & THE RULES. A meeting of the New Zealand Rugty Union. Executive was held last evening. It was attended by Messrs. N. Galbraith (in 'the chair), M. J. Crombie, E, Wylie, It. M. Isaacs, l'\ G. Wallburton, j. li. A. Laughton, and Dr. M'livcdy. Correspondence from tho English Union, was to the eft'ect that the Home committee was unanimously against certain alterations in the laws of the game, and could see no call to make other suggested alterations. It was resolved to instruct the New Zealand delegate to the English Union to bring forward all thf suggested alterations as.notices of motions at the annual meeting. The various local unions in tho Dominion are to l>e informed accordingly. Mr. W. AV. Hill, secretary of the. Neve South Wales Rugby Union, wrote regarding the probability of an invitation being received from California. The letter slat, cd, inter alia:— "During mv recent trip round the world I was asked" by the Califomiaii Rugby bodies to endeavour to secure a visit from « team to America during 1913,_ and since my return I have recommended that an invitation bo forwarded to your union in that connection. The local bodies ara aiso anxious to return the invitation of your union, combined with the NewSouth Wales Union, which resulted in tho tour of Australia and New Zealand of the Aincrican Universities' team in • 1010, so that I think you may expect word from California no\y at any time." The letter added that tho Australian team's visit to California had been satisfactory from all standpoints. Mr. Hill would Ix: pleased to give the New Zealand Union any assistance if 'a tour of America is arranged. The letter was discussed in committee, and it was resolved that the union is prepared to favourably consider an. invitation front the Californian Union. It was decided that the annual meeting of delegates should be held on May 8 next.

The motor-cycle reliability trials, to take place to-morrow and on Saturday will consist of: (1) Combined rcliab'lity trial, hill climb and petrol eonstiiiiptiuu test (on formula), four classes; (2) hill climb (on formula), four classes; (3) petrol consumption test (on formula), four classes; (5) hill climb (fastest time), two classcs; (G) teams' trial (three riders on machines of same make); and (7) competition for the Bidwill-Barton.championship cup (open). The course will be from Wellington to Palmerston North, via Feathcrston, ICahautara Road, Martinborough, Morrison's Bush, Greytown, Mnsterton, Mikimiki Koad, Parkvillo, Eketahuna, Pahiafua, and Pahiatua track_(lGo miles). The second day's course will be from Palinerston North to Wellington, via Sandon, Foxton, Shannon, and Levin (120 miles). l'or the more convenient running of tho trials the competitors will be-divided into two classes, naiuelv light-weights, all motor cycles under 3 kp., and heavy-weights, all motor cycles 3 h.p. and over.
