ANNUAL PICNIC.
Messrs. Thomas Ballinger and Co., Ltd., held their annual picnic at Belmont on Saturday. About 150 v er e present. A : pleasant day was sp?nt with sports and pastjmes. The result of the sports programme ie as follows:— Married ladies' raco—Mrs. ll'lvor, 1; Mrs. Warring, 2.
100 yards employees' championship— Grondin, 1; Ferguson, 2. Wheelbarrow race—Miss Macdonald, 1. Shop juniors' handicap, under 18 years— R. Peterson, 1; J. Porter, 2. ' '
Single ladies' race—Miss Reyling, 1; Miss Macdonald, 2.
Y" 150 . yards employees' handicap—Grondin, 1; Price, 2.
Tug-of-war, Dixon Street v. Victoria Street—DixOn. Street factory.
Skipping race, ladies—Miss Macdonald, 1; Miss Ballinger, 2. Half-mile walking handicap—W. Hickey. Swimming race—E. Price," 1; W. Green, 2.
Boys'walking race—Mahoney, 1; Davis;
Bean competition—Mrs. H. Ballingor. Tho "Empire" Cup for the highest aggregate was won by A. Grondin. Mr. Thomas Bollinger, in welcoming the employees and their friends, stated that it gave him groat pleasure to meet them at a social gathering of this kind. He trusted that they would havo many such functions.
