CONGRATULATIONS FROM AUS- • TRALIA. By lelcßraph—Press AEsoolation-Oopyrishi London, March 3. The Hon. W. A. llolman, AttorneyGeneral for New South AY ales, has arrived hero. Whilst in Paris he visited the President of France (M. l'oiiicare) at the Elysee, and expressed the Sydney Bar's congratulations on his election. M. Poincare was greatly pleased, and bogged Mr. Holman to convey his acknowledgments to his confreres in Sydney of their tribute, with which he was much touched, and which he regarded as proof of the fraternity of the students of |he law throughout the-world. M. Poincare expressed his warmest interest ill Australia and its progress, and in a lengthy interview discussed the prison administration at New Caledonia, which M. Poincare rained. He Btated that Cabinet was taking steps to investigate certain obsolete methods, about which Mr. Holman had previously communicated with the French Minister for | Justice.
