Sir Joseph Ward, in an interviow, referring to Senator Pearce's recent statements, denied that there was any failure on the part of Ihe Admiralty or Now 7/caland to carry out the 1909 agreement. Ho hoped the policy of contribution would continue. He did not believe any possibility of Now Zealand joining- in the maintenance of the Australian fleet.
