AN ADVENTUROUS CAREER.
Tlio gold in. wedding of Mr. and Mrs. .Tolm Thomas Clarke, of W&gga (Australia). was hold at their residence, Kent Cottage, recently. Mr. Clarke, was born at Faversham (Kent), in England, on September 3, 183", and Mrs. Clarke at Geelong (Vic.), in 18-1-2. The wedding took placo at tho Kyneton Church of England on February 4, 50 years ago. There aro 11 children of tho marriage, all living, married, and faring prosperously, some of them in Victoria, somo in the Wagga district, one nt Jerilderic, and one in New Zealand. Four are sons. Ten of tlio family attended the anniversary celebration, the absentee being one of the daughters, who resides in' Victoria. The grandchildren number 38. Mr. Clarko went to 6ea at a very early age, and spent some time in tho coastal districts. . lie also went to tlio Crimean war, and was present at tho declaration of peace. Back again in Australia, ho tackled the gold diggings, both hero and in New Zealand, whore ho joined in the Gabriel Gully rush. On returning to Australia ho was married, and then settled down to tho more prosaic, if less adventurous, pursuit of farming, residing at Kent Farm. Toiiccn, near Bendigo, for 374 years. Iloro ho reared his family, and about four years ago came to reside privately in Wagga. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke, who are themselves hale and heartv, despite their years, reared their family without troubling the doctors nt all, and even since living in Wagga they have had to call in a. medical man on only one occasion.
