SUGGESTIONS.

FOR DOMINION CRICKET.

MEET THE BEST MEN.

WHY NOT TRIPS TO AUSTRALIA? TBY G. H. S. Teott-1

[Specially Written for The Dominion.] / NO. V.

If tho New Zealand Cricket Council can attract tie sport-loving peoplo of New Zealand to tlieir cricket grounds, and thus give them "the coin of the Teahn" to improve their play, I have not the slightest doubt that the Dominion will take its proper place in the world of cricket. Our recent tour has convinced me that you have players in your midst, and also young players coming along, wlio will, if opportunities offer, make cricket history. The geographical situation of New Zealand makes it hard for those in authority to give their players the means of improving their play, and hard to givo them the opportunities of seeing the great players of the world in action. "Familiarity," it is said, "breeds contempt." This saying, no doubt, applies to batsmen who have met the best bowlers of the world time after time, but, on the other hand, X also think that it ofttimcs breeds respect. In any" case, batsmen cannot . improve unless they are given the chance to tace the best bowlers.
