The vital statistics for Wanganui for February are as follow: —Births, 54 (4G previous February); deaths, 11 (28); marriages, 17 (14). . , Tho farmers in this district who liavo not yetiforsaken agriculture for dairying aro in t'no thick of harvesting. All tho crops aro showing good returns, there being somo particularly fine yields of wlioat. Tho local school authorities arc endeavouring to secure the services of'tho Government steamers Hinomoa and Tutanekai to convey the school children of the district out into the roadstead to visit H.M.S. New Zealand when the latter calls af Wanganui.
