Miss Helen F. Barnes, organising secretary for tho Young Women's Christian Association of Australasia, is now in Victoria, leading the pnnual conference at Port This conference opened yesterday, and is being attended by delegates from all the Australian centres.
The new syllabus for the classes to bo conducted at the Young Women's Christian Association during tho year 1913 is now complete, and should prove to be a great attraction. There is something to appeal to each and every girl—a Lyric Club for the singers, a Reading Club for those of literary bent, a Ramblers' Club for girls seeking exercise in tho open air, and a Sketching Club, the last-named to ko held Dn Saturday afternoon. A class for tho study of elocution is to bo held ß each Tuesday evening by Mrs, Percy Woods, and dressmaking, millinery, find physical training and gymnastics are among tho attractions suggested in this programme. Cookery demonstrations with science talks on tho third Saturday in each month are being looked forward to eagerly, and will bo conducted by Miss Rennie. All classes opon next week. A eories of lectures nnd health talks are also being arrangod, tho first of which will bo "A Talk on Japan," given by Dr. Platts Mills, next Saturday night. This lecture will bo illustrated by beautiful Inntern slidos, and will bo open to all friends. To-night a social evening will bo hold, to welcomo members recently joined.
