Aorangi, 'R.M.S., of the Union Line, arrived at Wellington from San Francisco, via way ports, at 6.30 p.m. yesterday, and berthed at the Queen's Wharf No. 6. Tlio Aorangi left San Francisco at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday, February ■5, and coiled at Papeete and Rarotonga en route. Departure was taken from tho latter port at 10 p.m. on Thursday, February 20. Fine weather' was experienced throughout, and the trip proved uneventful. A dcclt-golf tournament and deck sports were held during the voyage. Tho New Zealand cargo comprises:—lso eases canned fish, 835 eases canned fruit, 55!? cases dried fruits, 309 rolls felt, 25 cases canned asparagus, 39 cases periodicals, 1040 pieces lumber, a large quantity of sundries, also fruit from the Islands. In addition, there is a large general cargo for Australia. Tho Aorangi leaves Wellington for Sydney this afternoon.
BOUND, FOR SAN FRANCISCO. The Union liner Moana arrived at Wellington from Sydney early yesterday morning after a fino weather passago across the Ta sill an Sea. The vessel is scheduled to leavo the King's Wharf for San Francisco, via way ports, at 5 p.m. tp-day. She is due at tho Californian ports on Maroh 20. RUAHINE DUE TUESDAY. ■ Tho local. office of the New Zealand Shipping Company have been advised that lt.il.S. Eualiine arrived at Hobart from London on Wednesday evening. It was expected that she would get away for Wellington this morning. In that case tho Euahine should reach Wellington on 'Tuesday afternoon. \ . STAR OF IRELAND AEEITES. < After a lengthy abscnco from New Zear land waters, the Tyser liner Star of Ireland arrived at Wellington from Kbw lorit yesterday afternoon. During the passage id, south-westerly gale was encountered, and; tho vessel shipped a, quantity of water. A lifeboat, on the starboard eido, was. stove in, and the engineers' cabins were flooded. The gale was so violent that the vessel was hove-lo for ii few hours. Later in tho day the weather moderated. Further gales of less violence were met with in tlio first and last weeks of' January, after whiohVflne weather prevailed until arrival. ] Captain G. The orders for tho construction of tho vessels,' two of which will be of similar design to the Clan Maophec, Clan Macdoiigall, Clan Maoarthur, Olan Macqua,rie, Clan Manintosh. and Clan Maccorquodnle, vessels that have only been launched during tho last twelve months, were placed 6ome time ago. Bo tho building of thom Is well in hand.- The third new vob ; eel will bo bf.the turbine class, whilst the fourth ,is ono that Messrs. Cayzer, Irvine have purchased. The first two vessels to be ready for. commission will bo named Clan Maobeth and Clan Macbrido respectively, and each will bo of 6000 tons register atld 90C0 tons dead weight capacity. Their speed is to be 141 knots per hour. Tlio turbine, which has not had a. name selected for her yet, will be of about tlie same sizo and speed,.as also will bo the purchased steamer, which is yet unnamed. Tho addition 'of these vessels will bflng the "Clan" fleet up to 64 fine full-powered steamers, ranging from 2602 to 6000 I tons register, most of which are ablo to steam at tho rato of from 13 to 141 knots pelhour.
