TE ARO HOUSE PICNIC.

A trip to Day's Bay on Wednesday last wag a jolly outing for the omployoes'of Te Aro House. As customary, the directors invited tho staff to their annual picnic, which was appreciated by everyone. The ferry-boat Admiral was specially chartered to convey the merry picnic party to their destination. After a delightful trip the company assembled to lunch, which was laid very ■ tastefully in the pavilion, and much credit is duo to Miss Cameron, of tho Ferry Company, for her able management. After tho usual toasts to tho directors and manager, tho company adjourned to tho sports ground to participate in tliei various events and games, which, lasted well into tho afternoon. ■ Evoryono seemed to bo in holiday mood, and many eager competitors entered for tho various prizes. Much adiusement was derived from the all-fours, cigarette, and catching-the-morning-train races and naif-driving competition, which is always a special feature at a To Aro House picnic. At 5.30 o'clock tea' was served, at .tho close of which the prizes were distributed to-the following competitors:— Nail-driving competition (ladies), .Miss Beaumont; nail-driving competition (gentlemen), Sir. Bernosconi; cigarette raco (lady and gentleman), Mr. Forrester and Miss Henderson; catclnng-the-morning-train (lady and gentleman), Mr. Frost and Miss Wayne; ladies'' race, Miss Taatfe; men's race, Mr. Goodman; Siamese race (ladies), Misses Clarko and M'lvay; Siamese race (gentlemen), Messrs. Bcrnasconl and Paget; all-fours (ladies), l[iss Elliott;.pick-a-back (ladies nnd gentlemen), Mr. Lawrence and Mass ll'Koy. At the conclusion of tho picnic a hearty voto of thanks was passed to tlio committee, who carried out their duties in a highly satisfactory manner.
