The Petone Tramway. Syndicate liave "turned doivn" tlio negotiations with the local florough Council in regard to the question of installing trains, and the syndicate are now considering tlio question of installing a motor-bus service. Last year a representative of the syndicate went to England for the purpose of ascertaining which mode of traction was the most successful, and it is understood that the present scheme is tlio loutcome. Already n friotor bus has been ordered, which will be capable of holding 30 persons, niuVit is proposed to charge a penny fare from tho railway station to Cuba Street, a distance of about a mile. Tho service will be controlled by the 'Tetono Tramway Company, Ltd." Mr. X., Roche, borough engineer at lower Hutt, is at. present in Christ--1 church on council business.
