Representatives of local sports bodies have been invited by the Mayor (Mr. D. M'Laren) to meet him in the Council Chamber at tho Town Fall this evening at 8 o'clock. An effort is to bo made to induce these bodies to manifest a moro ectivo interest in tho ooining Easter cainival than they have yet.shown any inclination to do. connected with the. sports bodies are lending their assistance, but tho Mtriiival authorities eoinplfiin the.t, or organisations, they hnvo so far shown a. distressing inertia. This attitude is contrasted unfavourably with that of Christclwrch sports bodies on the occasion of the recent Lancaster Park fete, when members of the sports bodies and, their lady friends assisted by taking chargo of stalls iind side shows, and in other ways to make the festival A success •
