On the application of Chief-Detective Broberg, Baily was remanded till March 5. Bail (.£80) was allowed. , SHI P. DESERTION.. William Murphy was charged -with having deserted tho steamer Turakina. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced .to one m6nthV imprisonment. ■ Chief-Detective Broberg said that Murphy had joined tho Koonya (a coastal vessel). after leaving the Turakina, and the wages; on,'tho'Koonya were a, good deal higher, than on the ocean-going vessel. : \ '- INSOBRIETY. : For insobriety Jack-Linklatcr was fined 10s. •' ,
