MrJ Macaskill, who met with an.' accident sonic tlnip, ago, wrote explaining., that; he attributed tho causo. to.an open drain oii the Main Koad, which ho alleged was not properly lighted at tho time of tho mishap. On the report of tho engineer it was resolved to forward a reply, pointing out that tho drain. waß.' properly lighted.up till eleven o'clock at night, and if the lights were subsequently, interfered with the coUncil could accept no liability. / '■.■ -V' It was resolved to call tho attention *6f tho police to damage.done by yoiing men aftd boys within tho T»rongh.
