In a letter received at last -evening's meeting of tho council, Dr. MakgiU wrote that there would bo a great tendency,'especially in the cheaper typo of boardiughouses, to overtax the accommodation. Ho recommended that ndvimtago should be taken of Section 203 i t i Municipal Corporations Act to regulate by by-law the minimum number of cubic feet ia each bedroom for each occupant* • A register 'of lodginghouses, s «ch as was intended by. Sub-Section 7 of tho Act, "would be very* useful, and if the law permits, it would bo an excellent tiling- to compel nil lodginghouses'to obtain a license from tie council before they could lawfully tako lodgers. ' The suggestion was referred to the ByLaws Committee. ,
