THEATRE ROYAL. Tlie entertaining bill whichl has been 'running at the Theatre Roval during, the next week will be repeated to-night. Toby, the-clever baboon, is well worth-seeing m his tricks. Among the other attractions are: Pedrine, the foot-balancer; Jules Garrison and his F.oman 'maids; Victor the Great, the Fontekoys, Maud Fanning, and Arthur EUiott. ; HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. " "A Girl Without a Country" still draws good crowds'to the' King's Theatre. The picture will bo shown again to-night, and as Asta Neilson. (the famous picturo-play actress) figures on the screen, people should 'not omit to visdt 1 the King's. -The supporting pictures are all-interesting. This afternoon a matinee will bo. held, and to" this children will bo admitted to the .stalls for threepence. - 7 THE NEW THEATRE. . MacMahon and Donnelly announce-'that they will present additional subjects this ■afternoon at the Now Theatre continuous pictures specially for children. The quasi-military spectacular drama '''l'bo Torch of War" is the leading attraction. Thero are a number of other dramas, also industrial, .scenic, and comic items. The bill will'be shown for the last timo this evening. Monday's new programme will introduce a v Nordisk drama, "A ' Man Without Conscience." ■
' THE EMPRESS. THEATRE... . The last appearanco is, announced for to-day and to-night of the present " programmo of the Empress Theatre continuous pictures. The exclusive Selig drama "The Shuttle of Pate" depicts the heroic rescue of. a little:girl from a' sinking steamer, her adoption by her rescuer, and their' happy marriage in after rears.; The theme is charmingly expressed. . A cowboy drama, "Tho Dance at Silver Gulch," is interpreted most realistically, and is an attractive narrative of life in the Far West.' . "The 'Warwick Chronicle" includes many interesting happenings, ofwhich a steeplechase and a grand military parade before the Kaiser are the most notable. There is a tap array of comedies of a "thoroughly humorous kind. The management advertises that on next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be presented a superbly-staged modern society drama "The Oath of Stephen Huller," a sensational sequel to "The Unwritten Law." PEOPLE'S PICTURE. PALACE. • ' Tho People's Piotura Palace in Manners Street was liberally patronised yesterday, when a change programme was screened. The pictures included ,a flue historical drama, "King Robert ,6f Sicily"' a .leauti-. ful scenic study entitled "Winter in the Engahdiue,"' "flawkeye, Showman," rhe "Indelible ' Stain," a powerful dramatic production, "Apache . Renegade," and "Greek Types." The elenient of- comic relief had not'been forgotten, and the pictures as a whole wero extremely, well produced;- and provided l the. material for a .'capital. 1 entertainment. To-day, as usual, the People's, Picture Palace will be .open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. SHORTTS' THEATRE. "Tho Spirit of the. Manor," a Vitngraph production, l figures conspicuously on the programme at Messrs. Shortfcs* Theatre at I present. To-day and to-night-will'be,the last time that this-picture and the supporting items will be .screened., On Monday all films will be changed. . . '.THE FOLLIES. -The very entertaining "Follies" are attracting good audiences. to tho Concert Chamber of the Town Hall. To-night they will present an entirely fresh programme. "THE BUTTERFLIES." Anion" tho "potted" plays "Rip Van Wiulclo 'and "La Poupee" have to be seen and heard for their sheer witty absurdity to be realised, while the burlesques and skits are-up .to an equally high ( standard.~ , ; : EICKARDS TIVOLI COMPANY. Many important changes have been effected in tho world of~v»udevillo of late. Some of those improvements will be seen ill the Ricknrds livoli Company, opening "n?xt Thursday at the Opera House. Mr. Hugh D. M'lntosh presents tho Rickards Vaudeville Company for a season of eight nights, box plans for which. open at the Dresden on Monday morning. Arnold da Biero and his company, numbering 20, aro an entire show themselves," and do Biero possesses a uniqr.o reputation throughout the world as' a creator of magic. Miss Nella Webb, arrayed jn some famous Parisian gowns, has a -repertoire 'of very quaint songs. Miss Webb has the services of Moritz Lutzen, a Viennese composer, as accompanist. Taylor and Arnold, n trio of rag-time specialists from_ tho Orpheim oircuit in America, and Signor Alberto Mnrini, a well-known operatic tenor, also contribute largely to _ a very strong musical programme. Clinko, a clever young juggler, and Minnie Kauffman, a'fearless trick'cyclist, are other features in tho latest- Rickards enterprise. ORGAN RECITAL. Mr. Maughan Harnett will play at tho Town Hall organ recital to-night a portion of a fine symphony by Vierno. Bach's Toccata in F, tho "Faust" Fantalsie and ISendel'a •"Dornroschoi)" Miss Muriel Bennett will sing {rings by Bevignani and Aylward. BAND PERFORMANCE. Jupp's Band will play'at Island Bay to-morrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. The D.I.C. aro the successful tenderers for carpeting tho now Opera House, now in.course of orection in Manners Street. The colour scheme is'based on sapphire blue, and the whole effect'will be highly artistic.
