Tlireo young men—James Farrell, Walter Hirst, and George Gregory, farmers, of Konini—wert Charged yesterday, before the magistrate (Mr, Poynton) with committing perjury in the local Court on January 28. The dhargearOso out of a case wherein Farrell was fined by Mr. Reid, S.M., for assaulting a Chinanldn named Wong Jack. Hirst and Gregory were witnesses on that occasion for the defence. Both Farroll and Hirst swore that they were never in the Chinaman's shop and that Farrell never hssaultea the Chinaman. The charge against Gregory was dismissed. Farrell and Hirst pleaded not guilty and were committed for trial at the Mflsfcerton Supremo Court. Bail was allowed.
