It is reported, however, that oil has been struck at Kotuku and' at Weber, both propositions being under the Shell Transport and Oil Company, a wealthy British corporation.. At Mangaone strong indications of the nearness of oil arc showing in tho bore, and as soon as the drills get a few hundred feet lower a strong (low of oil is expected; At Taranaki tho New Zealand Oilwells Coiripany|is working away, and there is now a market for the shares, which have recently changed hands at lEs.
