Reports from the Wairarapa state that harvesting is now fairly general. Many crops have been gathered- in,' and return's n?, 1 '. oa M f''°ni 70 to 84 bushels recorded. T-llis is not equal to -last year, when, as high as 110 bushels was obtained for oats and GO to 73 bushels or more for wheat'. Everywhere pa-ddocks are to be seen ready for the reaper and binder, while other crops are in stook, and 'inany -in stack. Though labour is „ 0 t too plentiful, still good progress is being made with the harvesting. Dairy farming, like any other business, is carried on for what can bo got out of it in tho way of profits. And, also like other businesses, unless these profits aro forthcoming there is likely to bo serious trouble. Expenses pro curtailed and profits are increased in shops and offices by tho uso of modern, time-saving contrivances. The same can be said of dairy farms, where Milking Machines and Anderson . Oil Engines aro in. everyday use. These mechanical helpers increase farmers' profits by cutting down working expenses nnd doing more work in less time than under the old order of things.. "Anderson" Engines aro kept busy on scores of New Zealand farms. An "Anderson" is the ideal power for Milking Machines. Full particulars can bo obtained from Andersons, Ltd., Christchurch.—Advt. ' • "I hear Mr. Sidney Low's name mentioned as Mr. Monypenny"s successor in' the conclusion of the life of Disraeli. •Could one. suggest a better? I think not," says H. W. M. in "The Nation." "Mr. Low lias just tho skill, sureness, quietudo, nnd breadth of judgment for the work. And there would, of cours9, bo a speoia.l vein of sympathy and understanding in Jlr. Low's approach .to Disraeli's raco and character." There's no use finding fault with the Factory when you get a low milk tost— the blaino lies with yourself. If y~ olir milk !?'■ placed, in one of Parton's Coolers ' directly it comes from the eow, it will be in perfect condition when it reaches the Factory. Then you will get high tests, and proportionately high prices. Albert ,1. Parton, Carterton-.—Advt. A WINNER OF COMPETITIONS.
