"v ELECTION OP OFFICERS. . : (By Telegraph— Prosi ABtooiatlon.) Timaru, February 19. The Congregational Union concluded its conference to-day. The following officers were elected:—President, the Hon. G. Powlds; secretary, the Kov. G. H. Mackenzie; assistant, the Kev. E. A. Btidger; treasurer, Mr. T. W. White (all of Auckland);. organising'• secretary, London Missionary Society," the ' Rev.' A'. E. Hunt .(Timaru). .• 'The Hta. G. Fowlds,.who leaves on a visit to England shortly, was authorised to negotiate ''with the .Colonial Missionary Society, for assistance to the extent of .£2OOO towards a. tund of >810.000, proposed to be raised for church eitension. The Bev, W. H. Lyon, on relinquishing the treasurership, was elected 'a life member, and it 1 was decided to establish a bursary for training students as a memorial of his valuable services. An address of congratulation, loyalty, and good wishes was adopted, to be sent to his Excellency the Governor.
