KARORI FLOWER SHOW.

, A flower show in aid of the funds of- St, Mary's Anglican Church was opened in' the Pnroohial Hall, Karon,.by tho'Mayor, Mr. Cathio, yesterday afternoon. Though not a large show, it was distinctly interesting. A very' fine collection of pot plants was sent in by Mr. M'Lachlan, in the professional class, for which. he obtained hrst prize. Mr. Atkin and Mr. Fern also exhibited in tho professional - class, the former, having an' excellent exhibition of vegetables and also cut flowers, for which he obtained second prize. Mr. Fern's cut flowers w-ere also greatly admired. Messrs. Pettereson Bros., of Newtown, sent in for exhibition only a fine collection of blooms ftnd'vegetables, and Mr. W. M. Jackson was also represented by, a •collection of beautiful begonias, and gladioli. i Mr. J. T. Horn had a collection of beautiful Tasnian apples on view, wisely protected by a wiro screen. The cut flowers woi'e extremely good, and Miss-Wicliham and Mr. Sunley won first-prizes. The results of tho lvst-trimming competition were very interesting, and really clever, nnd St. Mary's Home is to be congratulated upon, its amateur.milliners. There were a num. ber of decorated tables, and one was distinctly novel with decorntionsof brambles with luscious-looking blackberries/ far too I much of a temptation. Popular vote is to decide this- class in the matter of prize^rinnihg,-and an additional prizo has been' offered by -Messrs. • Pettersson' Bros. Miss Cooper judged the floral decorations, as well ns ; the children's and adults' classes in flowers; Mr. Jay judged tho professioual classis, and Mrs. Cathie the produce. ! Mr. SI W; Adams, lion. secret.'U'y, was responsible for tho excellent arranger ments in connection with the show.
