PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The'ordinary meeting of the Petone Borough Council was held on 'Monday night. The. Wellington Amateur Photographic Society wrote thanking tho councillor permission to visit Korpkoro Reservoir, and congratulating the. council on the possession, of tho reserve.—Received. Thy Petone Municipal Band made ap- ■ plication ' for payment of subsidy.—Received. Already paid. ■The. secretary of the Technical School wrote'notifying that the council is entitled to'three representatives on the Boardi of Managers for tho coining year, and asking to be:advised of names of representatives as'early as Councillors List, Cox, and Trueman were elected. Arthur D. Kenny, • writing in reference to the Harbour Board election, stated that' ho is a candidate for the seat representing the payers of dues, and asking for the council s vote and support.— Received. ■ ' \- •
W. L. Meek called attention to the danger which oxists on account of the Crossings put down in Hutt Road.—Engineer to further consider matter and act. W. S. Coope wrote forwarding account from Griffiths and Jones for Jl 7s. Gd. for attending to choked drain, at 10 Victoria Street', and as tho work was rendered necessary by a blook in tho council's Bower, requesting tho council to settle the account.—Account to l>e paid. Tlis Undor-Secretary, Department of Internal Affairs, wrote ro Gear Island, advising that the -Minister would meet tho Mayors of Pctone and Lower Hutt, tho chairman of tho Hutt County Council and Hutt River Board, and the leading tenant on Gear Islaud on Tuesday next at 2.30 p.m.—Received. Tho Minister for Railways wrote with reference- to tho representations mado by tho deputation stating that the train which'now leaves Petone at 7.10 p.m. to Igivo through passengers better time to catch tho ferry steamer and that tho existing arrangement is tho most 6uitablo to the users of the line. Ho regrets therefore that ho cannot see his way to niako any alteration.—Mayor and clerk to reply. Tho District Engineer for Railways wrote inquiring the rate at which an extraordinary water supply is charged for, and stating that approximately 300,000 gallons per month will be used at the workshops.—To bo informed, that tho prioo is one shilling per 1000 gallons passed through a meter. U. C. Kirk wrote with rcferonco to JEIOO which tho council has to pay for aporoftch fo that Ik- can execute transfer. —Cheque to be.'sent. The Wollimrtoii Football Association wrote nskin'r for No. I ground on Recreation Ground.— over slop-bank to be offered .at a rental of £n. The'engineer's report wa>= ndonted, and the gas manager's report received.
