The Conference of Sohool / which sat in Wellington last' wt, passed romo resolutions of general'interest. • Tho Staffs and Salaries ' Comurittoo recommended i—"That a uniform 6calo of salaries for inspectors in tho Depart-, montal service- should, bo adopted, with, salaries ranging from JESOO to JCOSO per: annum, exclusive of travelling expenses, and tliat salaries of heads of departments.; in "tho education'service should bo madfl adequate." , Tho recommendation wasj adopted. ■ " ' V ' : L.-, , 'v ', On tho motion of Mr. Richardson- jt was resolved:■—" That tho "time has i armed., when tho scale of salaries, for teachers, should bo revised, with a view to placing them, more in lino with those, paid,, inother branches of tho Public Service; that a teacher's salary should increase or regular increments to o fixed minimum of., say, .£240 for men and .£IBO for woihcn,;; and that tho maximum salnty for grade 10 be- .£500."
