Misapprehension ' appears to exist ookceminß.the size, of vessels which the Wellington patent slip at Evans Bay is copable of Accommodating. ■: It' is . reportbll that-the secretary of the Industrial Association (Mr/H, F, Allen) mentioned:at a reccut meeting of that body. that coinplaints wero made that the proposed mjw slip at Evans Bay; which ia to accommodate vessels up to 400 tons, , would not ,be big enough. The secretary went on'sto say that the opinion, in shipping and other circles was that tho now slip'should be built to take .ships of 1100' tons. Jit was a matter for disappointment that the slip Was not to be of a bigger size, i . . Speakiing to, a reporter on tho above subject on Saturday, Mr. Triife, secretary of the Wellington' Patent Slip Compaiiy, said that the present slip in Evans Bay was capable and had accommodated vessels up,to 2000' tons gross register. It, was Mr. Tripe s opinion .that, this fact';'was not Mnernllj- knmvri, ns was- plainly sicn by the itrend of Mr. Allen's remarks at the Industrial Association's meeting. -. ;j..
