"The Emerald Isle," which Is to bo produced in the Opera Houso on Monday and Tuesday ; next is a racy four-act comedy-drnma, "typical of the ould sod." For the spice of two hours and a half one is transported to the land of shamrock, with its joys and sorrows) its trials and troubles. The story of the play opens with a scene depicting Irish peasant life in tho home of the O'Connor's. One Edward Griswold, a gentlemanly scoun-. drel, falls in love with Grace Redmond, tho sweetheart of Harry O'Connor. Finding that his love is not returned, he endeavours, to incriminate. Harry by procuring his arrest whilst in possession of treasonable papers, which wero handed to him by .Griswold to destroy. Then follows a humorous prison scene, depicting the escnpo of O'Connor.with his.friend Barney Rooney, who lrad also been arrested as'being implicated. In a highly dramatic fourth net the extent of Griswokl's (plotting is made known, bririginw with if. his ruin'and degradation, together with ■ tho pardon of Harry O'Connor and Barney Rooney. The irrepressible Irishman with his wit and-humour, as depicted in "The Emerald Isle," will provide an excellent antidote for thoso suffering from n fit of the blues. The production is under the direction of Mr. J. C. Bradley, n wellknown English actor. Tho box plan'is nt the Dresden, and popular prices will prevail. __^^____^_
