ATHLETIC SPORTS.

CRICKET. MID-WEEK AND CLERGYMEN. SOME-GOOD SCORES. Another pleasant and interesting match in which clergymen took part was played on the Basin Rcservo yesterday against an cloven representing the Wellington Wednesday Association. The team opposed to tho olergymen was by no means a weak one, but, as will bo seen from the scores, the clergy won out. Tho captain won tho toss, but (as tho Wednesday men were not all present) he played; tho "sport" by sending tho other sido in. At one stagowhen Mulford went in third wicket down -matters seemed hardly promising for the laity," but 120 wero on the board when ho was dismissed. Victor Harris decided to retiro when his scoro stood at 58, but. Os far as could be seen, ho might easily have gone on to tho century. His running between the wickets'' with Mulford was a treat to watch. Tho Wednesday total reached 195; and the clergymen replied with;2ol, towards which tho Rev.' E. O. Blamires contributed an imposing addition. Scores:— : ' Wednesday Association. M'Gill, b. Rev. W. A. Hay..;.,...,.. 15 Major Hume, 1.b.w., b. Ror.-'W. A.
