At the monthly meeting of the Horowheiiua County Council it was decided to call the attention of the Health Department. to tho ; fact that part of the township of Shannon was being, cut up into-sections of from 12 to 15 feet frontage. Shannon was represented-by Messrs. E. G. Stephenson, J. Mitchell, J. Roach, and H. Knowles (s,), while the Levin team was Messrs. M'lntyrc, Foe, Groves,/and Coirio (s.). The scores word 29 points to 10. In their first game for tho Bevan Cup at Levin, local cricketers were defeated by 83 runs to 62. . The local Dramatic Society will produce "Tho Private Secretary" on February 19. The proceeds from the production will bo devoted to the erection of a pavilion on the recreation ground.
