A man named Louis Herriot and his wife have been arrested, charged with defrauding a young girl named Bertan of her inheritance, amounting to iC300,000. Herriot alleged that ho had Been, a prelate in Jerusalem, and was latterly a convert to Protestantism. Ho ingratiated himsolf into favour with Mdlle. Bertin's parents, fervent religionists, and-got control of the girl's inhoritanoo on the parents' death. He thon lived in splendour in Paris and on tho Riviera.
