There was a stormy meeting of, ists at the Trades Hall last oveningir when between seven and eight "Jiundredt men gathered to hear three of the Labour leaders'.give in detail, the; results bf the' recent conference in Wellington, ijut of which, was 'evulvcd the new organisation to bo called the United .Federation, of Labour. Mr. Arthur'.Hosser (secretary of a number of local unions) ■ presided, and, on the platform, wcro Mr. .Edward' Trcgear (of thoUnited Labour Party's isxocu- 1 tivc), Ml-. W. B. Parry (vice-president of tho New Zonland Federation of Labour), and Mr. L. Henry (vice-president of: the Hairdressers' Federation). Mr. Tregenr spoke for half an hour, detailing'very fully, tho work done at.tho recent conference, .Ho .said that he was just as much di believer and supporter of arbitration to-day as fiver. Ho also maoV an appeal for united action by tho workers oi: the Dominion. Speaking of' himv self, ho said that he intended to dovoto tho rest Of his life to • the labour cause, Ho wns too old for political ambitions. When tho time came for questions, the meeting. beenmo very disorderly. ; Thero were two distinct sections, and the word "scab"*was hurled about frerfy. The chairman livreatened to leave tho chair, but;, tho disorder continued intermittently until the meetlmj ended abruptly with, cheers for the United Federation of Labour.'
