C. . , Jack) in response to tho circular sent out ■ to brunches recently, at-the/instance of. ; tho Immigration Department, asking the' requirements of farmers so far as labour is concerned. Most of the replies, says Mr. Jack, are to aoino extent indefinite, . 'on account of the fact that', farmers will not pledge themselves to'take men until they...know that the men-nre available— ■Tolying.. on their ohance of picking up sufficient labour in tho meantime ;to tidethem over the rush time; Tho replies received have been forwarded . on' .to,tho Hon. H. Bell, and :it is understood ■ that for the■ immediateV needs 'of'rfho farmers between 2000 and SOOO farm labourers, between 500 and 1000 domestics, and about 200 boys are required.
