KATOA MAKES COALING. EECORD' •' The Union Company' 6 cargo toa, which arrived at Lytteiton on Friday morning.' from Ilunbury, left Westport on December 28 ' .with .a, .load o! Admiralty coal for Frcraantlo, mid arrived at that port at' 3i p.m. on 'January 8. The Katoa remained at anchor for'four days,'awaiting tho arrival of 11.M.5. Drake, ofod started to coal thp warship at 4 u.m', on Monday, January 13. The Katoa discharged 15C0 tons'of coal into the Drake in 9 hours', thus" establishing n record i.coaling for that ship in Australasian waters.. At 1 p.m. on January .13 the Katoa left for Bunbury, where she loaded a.full cargo of jarrah for Lytteiton. On tho.return journey to New Zealand the vessel encountered some exceptionally heavy weather, and' oil-bags had to be freely .used. Tho Katoa brought a. cargo of 1891 loads of jarrah, equal to about 1,134.000 super feet, for Lytteiton, and: is to sail on February 15 for Westport., ■

I MORAYSHIRE AT AUCKLAND. I The F. and *. fine's steamer Morayshire, which is- running under- tho auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Companj-, arrived at Auckland from Liverpool, via wav ports, at 1 p.m. on' Saturday. Tho vessel is expected to arrive at Wellington about February 17.

The vessel waa delayed some hours on account of two firemen who hod absented themselves from the ship. Substitutes hod Jo bo procured'before the vessel could sail. The Union Company's Ko-ramu was dolayed at Wellington for over ten houra on Friday under tho samo conditions. It is reported that Captain .1. Monn ILirt, late of the Star of Canada, k proceeding to England to take command of the new ftenmer Rtnr of Victoria, 10,500 ton.;, which is now being completed at Ilclfast by Messrs. The Wellington Harbour Ferries Company will.-dispatch the steamer Dueliose from Wellington to Picton to run an excursion from that port, to Ship Covo in connection with the unveiling of the Cook Memorial to-morrow. Tho Duchess leaves Wellington for Picton nt midnight, to-night and leaves on the return trip at 5 p.ni'. to-morrow.
