A large and -enthusiastic meeting wag hold at the DruidsVlTall, Otaki, <in Friday evening, when.. Mr. .A. ■■ A. Poape. general secretary for tho New Zealand Sports Protection League, Rave an address. Mr. W. M'Kegg, chairman of tho Otaki Town.Board, presided.
Mr. Paapo stated that'the object of. the league was to protect 4ho (interests of thoso who believed in legitimate sport against the undue interference- of a certain section of .'the public. Mr.. Reid moved that a branch of tho league be formed in Otaki. This wai seconded by Mr. Mark Ayro, and carried unanimously. . : .
Tho following,officers wero elected:— Patron, Mr. Ben. Ling;,president, Mr. W, M'Kegg; viee : presidents, Messrs. C. Tj. nartmnnn, Peter Taipua', 0. J. D'Ath, ,17 I). Howell, aiid A. Demuster; committee, Messrs. Horton Bright, H.'Nicholson, M. H. Ayre, G. Tattersall, arid J,-P.. Bills; secretary; Mr. 0. J. D'Ath. After a hearty vote of thanks liad beea accorded Mr. Paape' and tho 'chairman, sonio thirty of those, present enrolled as members.
